A Unified Alternative to Love Loyalty
Love Loyalty focuses on points and rewards. If what you need is memberships — gated content, tiered access, and recurring billing — that’s the job Zendra is built for, and the two apps can happily run side by side.
Why merchants switch to Zendra
Love Loyalty does points-based rewards well. Merchants who want paid memberships find they need a different tool for that job.
memberships
Paid memberships built in
Zendra lets you create paid membership programs with recurring billing, tiered access, and member perks. Love Loyalty focuses on free points-based programs without paid membership functionality.
Content gating
Restrict content by tier
Gate pages, products, and collections by membership level. Love Loyalty doesn’t offer content restriction — its rewards are about earning and redeeming points, not controlling access.
Unified platform
Member rewards without a points ledger
Tiers, member-only pricing, free shipping, store credit, and one-off discount codes — the rewards customers actually notice, without asking them to bank points first. Love Loyalty runs the points side; Zendra runs the membership side, and the two can coexist.
Recurring revenue
Built for recurring billing
Zendra handles subscription billing natively — recurring payments, dunning, trial periods, and gifting. Love Loyalty is transactional, focused on rewarding purchases rather than generating recurring revenue.
member portal
A complete member experience
Members get a branded portal to manage their tier, view perks, and engage with your program. Love Loyalty’s customer interface is centered around points balance and redemption.
Analytics
Membership insights
See memberships sold, active memberships and active members, recurring versus cancelled, and a three-month member history chart — enough to tell whether the program is growing or quietly leaking.
Feature by feature
How the two apps compare when you need more than just a points program.
Paid membership
Full paid membership support with recurring billing, tier management, and member-specific perks and access.
Not a membership platform. Love Loyalty focuses on free-to-join loyalty programs based on points and rewards.
Content gating
Native content restriction by membership tier — pages, products, and collections with automatic enforcement.
No content gating. The platform is designed around earning and redeeming points, not restricting access to content.
Content dripping
Schedule content to unlock on a timeline relative to each member’s join date — e.g., “available after 14 days.”
No built-in content drip scheduling for perks or programs.
Purchase restrictions
Allow anyone to browse, but restrict adding to cart and checkout to active members only.
No cart-level or checkout-level purchase restrictions.
Member discounts
Automatic order-level and product-level discounts for members, calculated at checkout. Supports percentage and fixed amounts.
Points-based rewards can include discount codes, but no automatic member-specific pricing at checkout.
Shipping perks
Free shipping, shipping rate discounts, and members-only shipping rates (e.g., priority shipping for members only).
No members-only shipping rate restrictions or shipping perks.
Perk scheduling
Set start and end dates on any perk. Run member sales or seasonal benefits that activate and expire automatically.
No perk scheduling. Benefits are either active or inactive.
Recurring billing
Weekly, monthly, annual, or custom intervals with free trials, signup fees, and minimum commitment periods.
No recurring billing — Love Loyalty doesn’t handle subscription payments.
Member portal
Branded portal for tier management, perk discovery, billing, and membership engagement all in one place.
Customer-facing widget for points balance, available rewards, and referral links. Focused on loyalty, not membership management.
Rewards & incentives
Rewards based on membership (like exclusive sale, content, product access). Offer member coupons or store credit for loyalty.
Strong points and rewards system with multiple earning rules, referral programs, and various redemption options.
Smart tagging
Automatically tag customers in Shopify based on membership tier, status, and activity. Use in Shopify Flow and email automations.
Some customer segmentation through VIP tiers, but no automatic Shopify customer tagging.
Pricing
Free tier available. All features — memberships, perks, and billing — included at transparent price points.
Competitive pricing for loyalty, but adding membership capabilities requires a separate app purchase.

Frequently asked questions
Not in one app, and it’s worth being precise about why. Zendra handles the memberships side — paid tiers, recurring billing, gated content, and member perks. It isn’t a points-based loyalty app, so there are no points balances, earning rules, or redemptions. Plenty of merchants run Zendra alongside a dedicated points app, and the two coexist without stepping on each other. If what you actually want from loyalty is tiers, member-only pricing, free shipping, or store credit, Zendra does that directly through perks and Shopify Flow — no points ledger required.
Sometimes — but not by imitating one. If your points program mostly exists to reward repeat purchases, a paid membership often does that job better: members commit up front, and the perks pay for themselves. If points earning and redemption are the point, with multiple earning rules and a redemption catalogue, Love Loyalty does that and Zendra doesn’t. That’s a real difference, and not one we’d try to talk you out of.
Absolutely. We find that as your program grows, you’ll naturally want to expand — and add content gating, membership tiers, or richer member perks. Starting with Zendra saves you a migration later, lets you add membership features whenever you want to, and saves you money on transaction fees — no tax on your earnings! Zendra works great for simple subscriptions as well as more robust membership programs.
Zendra doesn’t leverage points balances and redemptions, so we recommend running the apps alongside one another for a time. You can spin up new memberships in Zendra, and sunset points earning, giving customers a timeline to use remaining points.
We’re happy to help advise on the best migration path though! Get in touch and we’ll figure out a plan together.
When you consider that Zendra includes memberships, content gating, and recurring billing — all in one app — it’s more cost-effective than running Love Loyalty plus a separate membership app.
