Zendra’s Klaviyo integration connects your membership program to Klaviyo for email and SMS marketing. Zendra syncs each membership to Klaviyo as a custom object and sends a branded event whenever a membership changes, so your flows, segments, and campaigns work from real membership data rather than guesses reconstructed from order history.

You connect through OAuth from the Zendra admin and choose which plans sync.

When you’d use this

  • Send renewal reminders, trial-conversion nudges, and win-back campaigns from Klaviyo with full membership context.
  • Segment your audience by membership status, plan, or tenure.
  • Personalize emails with plan names, renewal dates, and member portal links.

What Zendra sends to Klaviyo

The integration sends two kinds of data, and the distinction matters: state answers what’s true about a membership right now, while events record the moment something changed.

Membership objects

Every Zendra membership becomes one custom object on the customer’s Klaviyo profile — a customer with three memberships has three. Each object carries the membership’s current state: status, plan, whether it will renew, the next renewal date, access end date, trial end date, next billing amount, and a link to the member portal. When the membership changes, the object updates with it, so segments and personalization built on it stay current.

Lifecycle events

Zendra also sends a branded event at the moment a membership changes — when it starts, begins a trial, renews, fails a billing attempt, changes plan, pauses, reactivates, is canceled, or expires. Events are what your flows trigger from, and they build a readable history of the relationship. Look for the Zendra icon in Klaviyo’s Metrics tab.

Profile properties

Zendra writes a Member Since property to the profile itself, so tenure-based targeting — anniversary campaigns, loyalty milestones, early-member perks — works without reaching into the membership objects.

Connect Klaviyo

  1. In Zendra, go to Settings » Integrations.
  2. Find Klaviyo and click Connect.
  3. You’ll be redirected to Klaviyo to authorize the connection. Approve it, and you’re returned to Zendra.
  4. Choose which plans sync — every plan, or only the ones you select.
  5. Optionally map plans to Klaviyo lists and enable the recommended starting segments.

Once connected, Zendra runs a first sync of your current memberships. The first sync imports current state only — it doesn’t replay historical lifecycle events, so connecting won’t fire old membership changes into your live flows.

Sync settings

  • Plans — control which membership plans sync to Klaviyo. Syncing everything is the simplest starting point; select specific plans if some programs shouldn’t cross into marketing.
  • List mapping — optionally assign plans to Klaviyo lists, so each program lands where your campaigns expect it.
  • Recommended segments — let Zendra create a useful starting set: active members, recently started, trials, at-risk, and canceled.
  • Sync health — the integration page shows the state of the sync, including how many membership records have reconciled.

Using membership data in Klaviyo

Flows. Trigger from lifecycle events and schedule around the dates on the membership object: a welcome flow built on the plan the member joined, a renewal reminder timed to the next renewal date, billing recovery at the moment a payment fails, and offboarding that distinguishes the cancellation from the day access ends.

Segments. Build segments from current membership state — active members on a given plan, trials ending this week, members about to hit a year — including customers who hold more than one membership.

Personalization. Reference membership properties in your templates: plan name, next billing amount, renewal date, and the member’s portal link, so every message speaks to the membership it’s about.

Common issues

  • A membership isn’t showing on a Klaviyo profile. Check that its plan is included in the sync scope in Settings » Integrations » Klaviyo.
  • Historical events are missing. By design — the first sync imports current memberships without replaying past lifecycle events, so history from before the connection doesn’t appear as events.
  • A member’s consent didn’t change when their membership did. Also by design. Zendra never touches subscribe or suppression status; manage consent in Klaviyo.

FAQ

Can one customer have multiple memberships?

Yes. Zendra creates one membership object per membership, so a profile can carry none, one, or several — and each syncs independently.

Do I still need Zendra’s email notifications?

They do different jobs. Zendra’s notifications are transactional records of lifecycle changes — renewals, payment failures, expirations — while Klaviyo carries your marketing. If you move a message like the renewal reminder into a Klaviyo flow, disable that template in Zendra so members don’t hear it twice.

Does the integration include prebuilt flow templates?

No. The first release focuses on the data model, events, and a reliable sync; build flows in Klaviyo’s flow builder from the events and segments Zendra provides.
