Zendra shows its own text in your members’ languages without any setup, but the list of languages depends on where the text appears. Text you write yourself, such as plan names and perk labels, is never translated: members see it exactly as you wrote it.

When you’d use this

  • You sell to customers who shop in more than one language and want to know what they’ll see.
  • A member says part of Zendra appears in English instead of their language.
  • You’re deciding how to write plan names, perk labels, and emails for an international audience.

How it works

Zendra picks a language for each part of the app separately. Where it doesn’t support someone’s language, it shows English.

Where Which language it uses Languages supported
Zendra admin The staff member’s Shopify admin language 36
Storefront and checkout The shopper’s language 37
Member portal (customer accounts) The member’s language 21
Shopify POS English only 1
Member emails The member’s language in Shopify 37

Storefront and checkout

Zendra’s built-in text follows the language each shopper is browsing in. That covers the membership block on product pages, the members-only messages Zendra adds to your theme, and the members-only message at checkout.

The 37 languages are English, Arabic, Bulgarian, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Lithuanian, Malay, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Portuguese (Portugal), Romanian, Russian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, Urdu, and Vietnamese.

Member portal

The member portal supports 21 of those languages: English, Arabic, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Portuguese (Portugal), Spanish, Swedish, Thai, and Turkish. Members browsing in any other language see the portal in English.

Zendra admin

The admin follows each staff member’s Shopify admin language, in all 36 languages Shopify admin offers: the storefront languages above except Estonian. In Arabic, Hebrew, and Urdu, the admin reads right to left.

Member emails

Each member gets Zendra’s emails in their Shopify customer language. If Zendra doesn’t support it, the email uses your store’s primary language, and English if Zendra doesn’t support that either. Gift claim invites always use your store’s primary language.

When you edit an email, the subject, preview text, or body you change goes to every member exactly as you wrote it, whatever their language. There’s no separate version of an email per language. Any field you leave as the default is still translated.

Text Zendra doesn’t translate

Zendra translates its own text, not yours. These reach members exactly as you wrote them:

  • plan and billing option names and descriptions
  • perk and discount labels
  • the text settings on Zendra’s storefront blocks
  • any email field you’ve edited

If most of your members share a language other than English, write this text in their language.

Common issues

  • Part of the member portal is in English. The member’s language may be one the portal doesn’t support yet, such as Estonian, Greek, Hindi, or Russian (Member portal lists the ones it does). The storefront and checkout still appear in those languages.
  • A plan name or perk label isn’t translated. That’s text you wrote, so Zendra shows it as written.
  • An edited email arrives in one language for everyone. Edited fields go out as written, while fields you’ve left as the default are translated. Write edited fields in the language most of your members read.
