- Pricing your membership is hard! As a baseline, customers typically expect the perks in your members to be at least 150% of the price for joining (McKinsey). So, if you charge $100 per year, customers expect at least $150 worth of benefit — keep this in mind both when pricing, and when structuring your perks.
- Even if you offer a paid membership, consider a free program with just a couple perks to engage customers. It makes them more likely to buy again, and over 65% of customers say some kind of loyalty program is important when choosing where to shop (Statista).
- Shipping is one of the top reasons that customers abandon their purchases. Offering free or reduced shipping for members is an excellent way to drive signups.
- Exclusivity is a big retention lever — so be sure to add some members-only content or products, and to run member-focused sales throughout the year.
